The weather was better than forecasted! We had a beautiful sunset last night.
The other night we had pink and purples over the mountains. I love watching the different cloud formations throughout the day.
Detour for Hwy 89 Construction
Here is the Detour route to avoid the 6 mile section on US 89 under construction this year just North of Choteau Montana. The Beautiful Swans Are Here!
We’re taking drop-ins at the RV Park for the Snow Goose Migration at Freezeout Lake. As of today, there are 36,500 Snow Geese and 5,658 Swans. It’s incredible to watch them in flight and land.
We got a picture of this beautiful deer running up the hill. The Rockies were really looming the other day!
We still have water/electric sites available for the 4th of July. We’re centrally located for all the Choteau festivities and watch the city fireworks display from our park!
The Snow Geese usually come to Freeze Out Lake in March. It’s a quck trip over to the lake from our campground to see these spectacular birds. Call our Campground for more information of staying with us in the Early Spring at 406-466-2615.
Ear Mountain peak is distinguished for me by the angled granite cliff that juts above the mountain top. Anywhere I go, I search for it with it’s striated rock and the tiny notch on the top. It looks over the town of Choteau like a distant sentinel. From the local paper the Acantha, one theory on it’s name is from the local author A.B. Guthrie. According to him, the Mountain Men in the early 1800’s thought it looked like an elephant ear. Hiking trails will lead you to spectacular views. But for me, being in the shadow of this mountain, seeing it’s beauty change moment by moment with the swift clouds and sunlight, is enough.
